Psalm 23 for you and me!

The Lord is my Shepherd
That's Relationship!

I shall not want
That's Supply!

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.
That's Rest!

He leadeth me beside the still waters.
That's Refreshment!

He restoreth my soul
That's Healing!

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness.
That's Guidance!

For His name sake
That's Purpose!

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
That's Testing!

I will fear no evil.
That's Protection!

For Thou art with me
That's Faithfulness!

Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me,
That's Discipline!

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
That's Hope!

Thou anointest my head with oil,
That's Consecration!

My cup runneth over.
That's Abundance!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.
That's Blessing!

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord.
That's Security!

Forever.

That's Eternity!

Feeling Crushed

Unfortunately, I will not be going back to work today....they have let me go inside my 90 day probation. When asked for reasons, they couldn't tell me anything. Personally, I think it is budget costs...because that is what the head manager was doing Monday and Tuesday of this week with the Corporate Financial officers. How ironic, that the first year that I planned to buy a nice gift for my boys this year for Christmas, that I am now unemployed. Granted, my boys don't need a real nice gift, but as a single mom that has worked so hard to make ends meet, I really wanted to provide something nice for them. Yes, some would say that its not the material things that bring happiness or the meaning of Christmas. But there is nothing wrong with it either!

Anyway, I am still in shock that I was let go from a job that I know God provided. But like all things in my life, there are things and people that are free to make decisions that I can't control. This is one of them.

After I cry it all out, I will be okay. I KNOW I will! I always have been! But I have to admit that I am tired of "having to make it though things". Finally, it seemed like I was starting to "live again". And realistically, in our world today, finances are a huge part of making that happen. It was so AWESOME to go shopping with my girlfriend this last weekend! I hadn't been in so long...but it was freeing to just go and purchase what I wanted if I felt like it.

Ice Tassels

So the big news around here is that, YES, we got the big winter storm they were calling for on the weather predictions. It was NOT good. Honestly, I am not scared to drive in it, since my dad put me on a parking lot of ice to LEARN to drive! BUT it is the people that are shaking and scared to death to drive in the snow/ice that do SCARE me....because they are the ones with the jerky reactions that CAN CAUSE an accident. Thankfully, God protected us on our path these last couple of days.

Unfortunately, since I am used to this weather from growing up in Alaska, I really could care less if I EVER see snow again. That is very saddening to my boys who have only had the snow experience about twice in their life. (at least where they were big enough to go play in it) BUT I HATE...okay...REALLY and TRULY DISLIKE...cleaning off my car in the mornings and after work. When I was a kid, I never had to do that job...so winter was FUN!

Their childhood enjoyment reminded me to soften my attitude, when I heard my oldest say to his brother, "Look, ice tassels!" WHAT? What are ice tassels? To him, ICICLES looked like Ice Tassels! How cute! But wow, he didn't even know they were called icicles. I really have lacked in my job as a mother by not teaching them more about winter!!

So today, they got to work on building a snowman. It is cold enough here that I think there will still be snow on the ground tomorrow so they can finish it. As a dutiful mother, I will take pictures! =o)
